Pelfrey for Cy Young?

Mike Pelfrey this year so far, going into June, is 7-1 with a 2.54 e.r.a. If he continues to pitch like this, is he eligable for the Cy Young award? It all dependes on how Ubaldo Jimenez continues. Pelfrey is probaly going to be one of the top five in the NL, but if Ubaldo Jimenez finishes the way he's pitching now, he'll be #1. If he finishes weak, Pelfrey is gonna be my top choice.

Mets beat Brewers

Today, the Mets beat the Brewers 10-4. R.A. Dickey pitched well but did he win the game? I think that it was the hitting that won. Players such as Jeff Francoeur, and Luis Castillo, haven't been hitting well this year and they got something going. David Wright, Jason Bay, and Jose Reyes have been hot and continued to be hot. When you have all your players hitting well then you'll win more games. If these players continue hitting and the pitching does fine, the Mets will win.

Johan wins,Mets lose

In May, Johan Santana is 1-0 in about 5 starts. He hasn't allowed more than 3 runs in a game. Why didn't he go 5-0 in May? Because the bullpen always blows the game. And the 1 win was vs the Yankees and he left in the 8th inning with a 6-1 lead, and the final score was 6-4. When you have your ace pitch about 8 innings per game, you bullpen has to support him. For an example in Millwakee, he pitced 8 scoreless, and the Mets still couldn't win.

Mets sweep Phillies

Last night, the Mets won their 3rd consecutive shutout over the Phillies 3-0. What won it all the pitching or the hitting? No question the pitching. In game 1, R.A Dickey pitched 6 scoreless innings, and Raul Valdez finished the job. In game 2, Hisonori Takahashi pitched like an ace in 6 scoreless innings. And in the most recent game, Mike Pelfrey was lights out pitching 7 strong, and K-Rod finished off the game.

Thank Omar?

This off-season, the Mets wanted a superstar and only got Jason Bay. Besides Bay, Omar Minaya signed 2 Japanese pitchers (Igarashi, and Takahashi) and 2 back-up catchers (Barajas, and Blanco). All the fans said how Omar is just signing trash. Should the Mets fans apologize him? Takahashi might be the best in the Mets bullpen (beside K-ROD), and could be the 5th starter replacing Oliver Perez who allowed 7 walks in 3.1 innings today. Igarashi was hot before going to the DL. And Barajas and Blanco both hit walk-off HRs vs San Francisco.
