Barajas to Dodgers
On Sunday, Rod Barajas was acquired off waivers by the Dodgers. Therefore, Josh Thole will be their starting catcher. What was the point of this move? Josh Thole is much younger than Barajas, and also gets lots of clutch hits. Henry Blanco is the back-up catcher because he's good at catching Dickey's knuckle ball.

Johan gets his second consecutive complete game loss.
Johan Santana, now has pitched 3 straight complete games two of them for losses. Not just he has the least run support in the NL, but he had 9 K's. When you strike out so many hitters and only allowed 2 runs, you deserve the win. 2 runs and 9 strikeouts are good. Especially with 4 no-hit innings. It made me upset that all they gave him was a first inning run. The night before Jon Niese gave up as many runs as Johan (1 run in 5 innings) and got 5 runs. On Friday night, Mike Pelfrey gave up as many runs, and got 7 runs.

Who should be Mets 5th starter
Now that K-rod is out for the season, Hisonori Takahashi will have to take over the closer spot. And Pat Misch is their 5th starter. Should Pat Misch be the Mets 5th starter? The options are Pat Misch, Oliver Perez, Manny Acosta, or Raul Valdez. I would put out Manny Acosta, and Oliver Perez, so it between Valdez, and Misch. Pat Misch had a great spring training, pitched well vs the Astros until Carlos Lee's three-run HR. And Raul Valdez is a good relief pitcher that could give you 5-6 good innings. I would go with Pat Misch, and by September, if he's not doing well, then I would try out Valdez. Please comment on your opinion.

K-Rod arrested, and suspended
On Wednesday night, Francisco Rodriguez was arrested for misbehaving with his girlfriend's father following the 6-2 loss to Colorado. Owner Jeff Wilpon suspended him for 2 games. K-rod will return to court on September 14. Hopefully, this won't distract the Mets because they have a big series vs Philly this weekend. This is non baseball related, so when on the field, the Mets should stop thinking about Frankie, and do their best this weekend vs Phillidelphia.

Pelfrey back to normal
Last night, Mike Pelfrey pitched 7 scoreless innings. This was his first win since June 25. It was also the first time he's pitched 6 or more innings since June 25 (vs Minnesota). The problems were that he was losing focus, and his sinkers weren't sinking, etc. Last night, you could tell that he was keeping focus because he wasn't taking 20 seconds to throw a pitch, and he wasn't licking his hand after every pitch. Over his last 6 starts, it took him a long time to throw a pitch because he was day-dreaming a bit. He was also licking his hand after every pitch for no reason.

Who the mets need to lose in order to make the postseason
The Mets are currently 7.5 games behind the Braves in first place, with about 2 months left of the regular season. That means there's not a great chance that the Mets will win the division. Just incase they could, they need the Braves, Phillies, and Marlins to all lose. In the wild card, the Mets are 8 games behind the Giants. In order to win the wild card, they need the Giants, Cardinals, Rockies, and Dodgers to all lose a few games. And the Mets have to start winning more often.
