The Mets are currently 7.5 games behind the Braves in first place, with about 2 months left of the regular season. That means there's not a great chance that the Mets will win the division. Just incase they could, they need the Braves, Phillies, and Marlins to all lose. In the wild card, the Mets are 8 games behind the Giants. In order to win the wild card, they need the Giants, Cardinals, Rockies, and Dodgers to all lose a few games. And the Mets have to start winning more often.
While the team looks horrible now, there is still time to turn this situation around. As we Met fans are only too painfully aware, a 7.5 game deficite can be overcome in the last 3 weeks of the season.
