Mets Release Perez And Castillo

Last week, the Mets dropped 2B Luis Castillo and P Oliver Perez. Perez and Castillo were not good players, but the money is an issue. The Mets still have to pay them, and they're both getting big money. The Mets gave them unreasonable contracts, and now they're getting paid, and they're not even on the team anymore.

Ollie refused to go down to the minors which was not smart, because he should have known what was going to happen to him. I think the Mets cut him a little too late. They should have cut him last year when they saw he was not pitching well. Castillo, didn't play much, because he went to the DL a few times. However, the biggest reason Castillo was let go was because off his errors. He made a lot of errors, but I think his errors are overrated because of his one error vs the Yankees in 2009. I also think it's funny that they were both 2 of the 3 players that didn't show up at the Walter Reed Hospital last year. Even-though they still are getting paid, I think it was worth it because they were not good players.

  1. Ollie was a flop. But much of his trouble is psychological. If he ever works through those issues, he might be able to give someone some quality innings. Even with the Mets he showed flashes of brilliance every so often.

  2. Seems like two good moves - not much to lose - so why not? Steve Bag
