Mets Tie Braves 5-5 in Sprring Training Opener

Yesterday, the Mets tied the Atlanta Braves at 5, in 10 innings. Fernando Martinez and Willie Harris both hit homers. Jenry Mejia pitched 2 strong innings giving up an unearned run, and struck out 3. The Mets opening day starters played the first few innings, and then the prospects came in, and some have to prove the Mets a lot this Spring Training, because obviosly everyone wants an opening day spot, and only 25 players could.

I thought that the prospects did well, and if they could continue this way and someone gets injured, they could get called up, and do well. I see some of these players as rising stars. I don't think this will be a bad season, even after the whole Wilpon-Madoff issue.

  1. It was just reported that former Met, and longtime Brooklyn Dodger great, Duke Snider passed away. Now that was a ballplayer.

  5. NJMetFan, I heard Dickey struck Pujols out twice in today's spring trading game. Looks like he still has his stuff.
