Ollie Has One More Chance

This is a very important spring training for Oliver Perez. He met today with Sandy Alderson and Terry Collins about his future. Adam Rubin of ESPN says, " Perez will get an opportunity to get a spot in the starting rotation".
He threw a bullpen session today, and it was a big improvement compared to the last two years. Pitching coach Dan Warthen said that Ollie was throwing better today, than at any point last year. Perez said he came to Port St. Lucie to improve, and not to get released.
He played in winter ball, but he didn't look much better. He pitched 33 innings, walked 23 batters, and had a 5.18 ERA. Ollie really wants a spot in the starting rotation. I'm happy he is showing intensity for a starting spot, because he didn't last year. He sat in the bullpen, and made 12 million dollars. The Mets will give him one more chance. Hopefully, he'll take advantage of this chance, and show improvement.

  2. Somebody once said that the definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. By that definition, resuming the Ollie experiment is insanity personified.
