Last night, the Mets beat the Indians 7-6, winning their 5th straight. Unlike the whole season, the Mets scored runs to support Johan Santana. That's how you win a game. Santana usually pitches around 7 scoreless innigs, but the Mets only score 1 run. So in the 8th or 9th, the bullpen would give up only 1 run, and the opponent will tie it. So, if the Mets want to keep up Santana's 5-3 record, they need to score more runs.
It's about time Santana received some run support. The way the Mets had previously been playing on the road, any road victories are welcome--even against the bottom of the AL barrel. Time will tell whether they can win on the road against the better NL teams--or, for that matter, any NL teams.
ReplyDeleteDude, aren't you concerned by the way K-Rod got rocked in the 9th? Without that 3 run cushion, last night could have been a demoralizing disaster.
ReplyDeleteMejia has been very erratic. With Maine possibly coming back soon, don't you think the Mets should send Mejia to Buffalo where he can be stretched out in contemplation of becoming a starting pitcher. He is not really helping the team as a reliever.
